The grinning, grimacing jack-o'-lanterns that had visited Hogwarts New Zealand thirteen times before had returned. They bobbed up and down above the crowd, bats maneuvering around their many orange bodies. Gabe was happy to see the decorations again. From one Halloween to the next, students came and went and staff positions were handed away, but change never attacked the festivities. The headmaster found some comfort in this. He could always be certain that his favorite holiday would be a spooky, cheerful one.

Feeling no shame in the white sheet he'd thrown over his head nor the eye-holes he'd cut out of it, Gabe rose from his seat. "Happy Halloween, boys and ghouls. The costume contest will begin shortly. In the meantime, feel free to indulge yourselves on all the food and sweets provided." A feast fit for a king- and any pumpkin pasty addicts- appeared on the tables. The wizard coughed. "Hogwarts New Zealand is not responsible for any stomach aches, sugar-driven antics, nor eyeballs found in the candy dishes."

Satisfied with the disclaimer, the ghost took his seat. He didn't realize until then his dilemma; he hadn't made himself a mouth hole. How to pig out without staining his costume?

There had to be a charm for that.
